“The pork used for cured meat are all from pigs bred by ourselves and surrounding farmers, with a feeding cycle of over a year. The pork is rich in oil and fat, with compact texture, so the cured meat made with it tastes very good,” said the Party secretary of Guiying Village.
The company, established in November 2022, currently has 22 smoking rooms and 4 workshops. It mainly sells local agricultural products such as cured meat, sausages, and beef.
In order to ensure the quality of cured meat, in addition to strict selection of live pigs, it also uses the traditional method of making cured meat in Xiangxi. Cured meat is smoked for more than 50 days with local firewood. The smoked cured meat has a bright red color as well as rich aroma, and can maintain its fragrance and quality for a long time. It’s highly favored by consumers. At the same time, it can also drive some villagers in the surrounding area to raise pigs to increase their income.
“We have received 6,000 orders for cured meat. We often received calls from local areas, Changsha, Guangzhou and other places to order cured meat recently,” said the Party secretary of Guiying Village.
With the strong support of China Telecom Hunan Branch, Guiying Village is committed to building a Xiangxi cured meat series production line to enrich market supply. It has created the “Yihaokang” Xiangxi cured meat brand through trademark registration and packaging design. Its products are sold in the agricultural products exhibition center, 832 Store, and rural revitalization hall as well as on WeChat applet, Douyin, and WeChat video account.
It’s a busy season for the production and sales of cured meat from the beginning of winter to the Spring Festival. During this period, there are 11 regular workers, with a monthly salary of over 3,000 yuan per person.
In recent years, Guiying Village has integrated the development of grapes, lilies, and cured meat. 30% of the total collective income of the village is given to villagers who voluntarily become shareholders.
As of now, the orders of cured products worth 1.8 million yuan have been placed. It’s expected that the sales will reach over 3.4 million yuan in 2024.
“We will strengthen the supervision of cured meat production, introduce advanced processing technology, and expand sales channels, so that more people can taste our cured products,” said the Party secretary of Shipai Town.
